Cavaliers outdo Middlesex as Vincy teams intensify BCL rivalry

Cavaliers outdid Middlesex last Saturday in the Brooklyn Cricket League at Marine Park C, as both Vincy teams intensified their rivalry.{{more}}

Middlesex reached 179 for 5 from 26 overs at the 4: 30 p.m. cut-off point.

Dominic Audain who hit 55 not out with 7 fours, Captain Mark Audain, 47, comprising 5 fours and Devan Passley, 31 not out, were the main scorers.

Cavaliers needed to get the required runs in 22 overs, as they lost 4 overs for their late start.

Cavaliers answered the call and posted 185 for 5 in 21 overs. Fahad Gahaawag, 57, and Sarathy Jagadeen, 40, were the main contributors.

Also on Saturday at Marine Park A, Panthers scored 208 in 35 overs, Ari Shahbaz hit 72, Asal Asim, 35, and Zafa Adii 29.

Bowling for Vincentian team Imperial, Orlando Mofford had 2 for 26, Denis Evans, 2 for 27 and Monty Johnson, 2 for 48.

Replying, Imperial had 122 runs in 20 overs when rain interrupted play.

Monty Johnson and Jason Nelson were at the crease and were 48 and 15 not out, respectively. Denis Evans scored 38.

Bowling for Panthers Shuhil Zafar picked up 2 for 29.

Imperial won the game based on overall run rate per over. Imperial now has 7 wins and 2 losses, with one match in hand.

On Sunday, at Marine Park C, Middlesex took on Sheffield. Middlesex opted to bat first, after the late arrival of Sheffield. Middlesex posted 284 for 8 in 34 overs. Dominic Audain had a career best 96 – made up of 8 fours and 3 sixes. Donwell Hector stroked 50, Tegana McKenzie, 41, and Rod Michael, 34.

Bowling for Sheffield, Imran Islam had 3 for 46 and Ahmad Dodson, 3 for 56.

Sheffield was bowled out for 149 from 25 overs. Delorn Moffet scored 44.

Mark Audain grabbed 5 for 43, Donwell Hector, 3 for 8, and Kavir Singh, 2 for 50, as Middlesex won by 135 runs. This win now gives Middlesex six wins, and three losses, with two more games to go in the first round.

Playing on Sunday at Marine Park A, Cavaliers faced off with Diplomats. Diplomats made 210.

In reply, Peter Haywood top scored with 39, Saraphy Jagadeeshan made 34, Casper Davis, 36 and Daren Charles, 24, as Cavaliers was only able to score 176 for 7 in 33 overs. (RT)
