SVG finish second in OECS Boxing Championships

St Vincent and the Grenadines won four medals — two gold, one silver and one bronze, at the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) Boxing Championships, held at the Vigie Multi-Purpose Complex, last weekend.{{more}}

The gold medallists were Conrick Richardson and Keithland King, who fought in the lightweight and welterweight divisions, respectively.

Richardson, in the semi-final, whipped Hubert Lucien of Dominica, then overcame Alex Poyotte of St Lucia in the final.

King, who is based in Barbados, defeated Kyghan Mortley of St Lucia, as he lifted the welterweight title.

St Vincent and the Grenadines gained its silver medal through Emron Tittle in the bantamweight division. Tittle was defeated by St Lucian Heslie Louis.

And, heavyweight Kemron Beache had to the settle for the third place and the bronze medal, as he went under to Ryan Charles, also of St Lucia.

The Vincentian team was coached by Junior Assing and Cavanaugh Gumbs and managed by Leslie Pope.

Pope played a double role in the championships, as he also served as an official.

St Lucia topped the medal count, finishing with four gold medals and three silver medals. Dominica, like St Vincent and the Grenadines, had two gold, one silver and a bronze, with Grenada finishing with two silver medals.
