Police One, Radcliffe Too take first innings … Deptor Culzac slams century

Police One and Radcliffe Too both gained first innings points in the National Lotteries Authority first division of the national cricket programme, but a late century by Deptor Culzac was the highlight of the weekend’s matches.{{more}}

Police One came away with the lion’s share of the points against Smashers at the Buccament Bay Playing Field.

Taking first strike, Smashers scored 116 all out; Keville Sam hit 44. Bowling for Police One, Calvin Glasgow took 5 for 18.

Police One, in reply, hit 122 all out; Sylvan Spencer hit 43.

Bowling for Smashers, Anthony Charles had 4 for 39 and Marvin Harry 3 for 10.

Smashers were 89 for 6 in their second innings, as Sylvan Spencer had bagged 3 for 19.

And, at the Stubbs Playing Field, Radcliffe Too took the better of the spoils over Triumph United Cricket Club.

Triumph United was dismissed for 72 in their first innings, with Rohan Ash leading the way with 43. Antonio Barker, 5 for 8 and Romano Pierre 3 for 9, did the damage with the ball for Radcliffe Too, who then posted 153 all out; Arnold Gilkes scored 36.

Isaac Trimmingham, 4 for 31 and Rohan Ash, 3 for 33, were the most successful bowlers for Triumph United.

In their second innings, Triumph United was propped up by one of this country’s most versatile sportsmen, Deptor Culzac, who hit a ton.

Culzac, who is also a footballer, an avid softball cricketer and cyclist, lashed 117, as his team reached 201 for 7 declared. Alson Cain took 3 for 34.

Set 121 to win, Radcliffe Too was 100 for 3 at the end of the match. Kenley Joseph smashed 80.

Rohan Ash had figures of 3 for 19.(RT)
