SVG successfully defends senior OECS squash title

Twelve senior squash players from SVG joined players from Antigua, BVI and St Lucia at the St Lucia Yacht Club Courts from May 16 to 19 to battle for supremacy in squash for 2013.{{more}}

The Men’s Team of Jules Snagg, Kevin Bailey, Jason Doyle, Bradley Glasgow and Eshwan Adams defeated Antigua 4-0: Snagg def Scott 3-0, Bailey def Accosta 3-0, Doyle def Edward 3-0 and Glasgow benefitted from a walk over; BVI 3-1: Snagg def Anselm 3-0, Bailey def Osborne 3-0, Doyle def Davidson 3-0, but Glasgow lost to Standish 1-3; and St Lucia 3-1: Snagg def Sonson 3-1, Bailey def Gobat 3-2, Doyle def Gilmore 3-1, Glasgow lost to Segovia 2-3, to take the OECS Men’s Team Title 2013.

The Women’s Team of Amber Glasgow, Chrystal Primus and Rochael Robertson were, however, defeated by BVI 1-2: Glasgow def Farragher-Kneipp 3-0, Primus lost to Roost 0-3 and Robertson lost to Woerde 2-3; and by St Lucia 0-3: Glasgow lost to Bergasse 2-3, Primus lost to DeVaux 0-3 and Robertson lost to Reyes 0-3 and had to settle for the cellar position in 2013.

The VETS Team of Keith Boyea, James Bentick, Sherian Slater and Deirdre Myers won the OECS VETS Team Title 2013, even while playing without a 60+ player. In the BVI match up Bentick def Adamson 3-1, Slater def Sorrentino 3-0, Myers def Burns 3-0 but Boyea went down to Sorrentino 0-3. In the St Lucia match up Boyea def Defreitas 3-1, Bentick def Piper 3-1, Myers def Renwick 3-0 and Slater benefitted from a walk-over.

Team SVG retained the SENIOR OECS TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP for 2013.
