SEDI holds cricket awards ceremony

Top performers in the 2013 National Lotteries Authority South East Development Inc T/20 Cricket Competition received their prizes recently at the Stubbs Playing Field, as that organization held an official presentation ceremony.{{more}}

Taking the most wickets in the competition was Kurtney Davy of Backlash, who claimed a total of 14 wickets at a cost of 84 runs.

Kenny Stapleton of Top Guns carried away two awards. The weighty Stapleton powered the highest individual score – 95 and was also the leading run scorer, with 251 runs.

And, there was a special award for the lone female player in the competition – Japhinna Joseph. A first form student of the New Adelphi Secondary School, Joseph represented Third World, the second placed team.

The St Clair Dacon Secondary School was adjudged the most disciplined team.

Groundsmen Elwin Charles and Pernel Simon were also given tokens of appreciation by the organisers.

Nuts and Rum Mix Up Moods won the competition, which was a revival after an absence of ten years, and third was Victoria Young Future Stars.

The other teams which competed were Glamorgan Combined and Church Road Connections.

The closing ceremony was addressed by area representative Frederick Stephenson; president of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Cricket Association Julian Jack and president of the South East Development Inc. Rosita Snagg.

The ceremony followed a festival match between Victors and a SEDI XI, with Victors coming out triumphant. (RT)
