Young Strikers blast it big at the ‘Oval’


Young Strikers chalked up a competition high of 243 for 6, in 20 overs, to brush aside La Croix United by 134 runs, in the latest round of matches in the SVG Police Co-operative Credit Union Clinchers Softball Cricket T20 championship.{{more}}

In the match played at the Richland Park Oval, Davidson Lavia made a top score of 58, with four fours and five sixes. Denson Hoyte, with whom he raised 90 for the first wicket, got 39, with one four and four sixes and Zanue Baptiste 38 – one four and five sixes, as 23 sixes and twelve fours were struck in the innings.

Joining young Strikers were Sea Operations Nar Fren Dem, Gairy Construction Simple Boys, Outa Trouble and CGM Gallagher Novice, who were also in winners’ row.

La Croix United were restricted to 109 for 8, in their 20 overs.

Nar Fren Dem defeated Standford Allstars by 107 runs.

Nar Fren Dem reached 145 for 9, in their 20 overs, with Seon Phillips and Travis Peters getting 29 each.

Stanford Allstars were bundled out for 38 in nine overs, with Travis Peters taking 3 for 10.

Simple Boyz beat Dr Thomas Injectors by two runs.

Simple Boyz, batting first, made 96 in 20 overs, with Desron Maloney making 44 with six sixes and two fours. Augustine Corridon had figures of 4 for 19 and Julian Mc Nicolls 3 for 2.

Dr Thomas Injectors were then held to 94 for 8 in 20 overs, with Mc Nicolls getting a top score of 26.

Defending champions Outa Trouble beat Resergents by 121 runs.

Batting first, Outa Trouble made 172 in 20 overs, with Richie Richards making 42 – four sixes, three fours and Vertrick Strough, 32,including five sixes. Kentish Richards took 2 for 18.

Resergents were then dismissed for 51, with Sunil James taking 4 for 4.

Novice was also in winners’ row, beating Glen United by five wickets.

Glen United scored 84 for 9 in 20 overs, with Dill Clarke grabbing 3 for 38 and Andre Hunte 2 for 6. Novice replied with 86 for 5 in 14 overs, with Kentish Phillips making 26.(RT)
