RSVG Police sentenced to defeat in CADO softball

Defending champions in the Premium Distributors/Andy Lavia Calliaqua Area Development Organisation (CADO) Twenty/20 Softball Cricket Championship, RSVG Police, tasted defeat last Sunday at the Calliaqua Playing Field.{{more}}

Doing the charge sheet were Nice Radio Clinchers, who won the case by a 23-run margin.

Clinchers batted first and chalked up 128 for six, off 20-overs; Desron Spring 36 and Osneth Cato 26, were the principal scorers.

Bowling for Police, Roderick John took 3 for 43 and Kenroy Martin had 2 for 13.

Police retaliated with little force, and were detained at 105 off 18-overs; Roderick John and Salvan Browne both hit 15. Rawle Stapleton was the court marshall, as he picked off 4 for 12, bowling for Clinchers.

Others in winner’s row on the weekend were Glen United Two, CGM Gallagher Novice and Choppins.

Glen United Two defeated ASCO by 12 runs in a low scoring affair. Glen United Two could only get to 66 for 9 off 19-overs; Damien Foyle hit 15.

Osborne Franklyn was ASCO’s top bowler, with 3 for 30, but he and his team mates could not come to grips with the bowling of Cornelius Emmons – 5 for 10 and Monty John – 3 for 20, and were shot out for ASCO 54 off 12-overs.

Vernardo Primus compiled 25, in a losing cause for ASCO.

Also Novice stopped Glen United One by four wickets. Glen United One made 78 for 5 off 20 overs; Marcus Hackshaw – 17 not out.

Bowling, Chris King picked up 2 for 8.

In reply, Novice laboured 79 for six ,off 13.5-overs; Dean Farrell had 21.

Cassius Welcome, 3 for 22 and Winston Bascombe, 2 for 14, were the bowling successes for Glen United One.

And, Choppins United had an eight-wicket win over RM Boys.

Taking to the crease first, RM Boys scored 62 for 9 off 20-overs; Kenroy Joseph was the most successful bowler, as he grabbed 4 for 12.

Choppins United then rushed to 63 for 2 from eight overs. Kenville Sutherland 24 not out and Desmond Samuel 23, led the response with the bat.(RT)
