Hector delivers again… Victors lose on first innings

Donwell Hector, the 2013 local run machine, continued to throttle when he oiled his third century, 101 not out, last Sunday at the Arnos Vale One Playing Field.{{more}}

Hector made his century against Guardian General Saints, as the finish line of the National Lotteries Authority Premier Division Cricket competition approaches.

Hector’s triple figure score followed similar three-digit achievements for the season – 108 versus Victors Two and 135 not out against Police Two.

His century, however, came after his team Victors One had surrendered first innings points.

Backing himself strongly, the self-assured Hector even waged a bet with local sports journalists prior to the start of the match and went as far as to suggest the caption for the photograph, when the triple figure score was achieved.

Hector’s knock helped Victors One to 181 for 5, as the match petered out into a tame draw.

Romario Bibby with 3 for 39 was Saints’ lead bowler.

Victors One had batted first and registered 151 all out. Kenneth Dember, with 28, was the top scorer.

Kenroy Peters took 3 for 18 and Ray Charles 3 for 26.

Saints, in response, scored 169 all out. Omar Lorraine led Saints’ batting with 50.

Kenneth Dember, maintaining his consistency, grabbed 4 for 55 and Keron Cottoy snared 3 for 38.

And, at the Sion Hill Playing Field, defending champions Team Rivals remained in pole position for another year, by taking first innings from the News Spartans.

Rivals compiled 255 all out; Harley Skerritt 74 not out and Hyron Shallow 46, were the principal scorers.

Bowling for Spartans, Teron Simon bagged 5 for 56.

Spartans’ reply stopped at 166 all out. Joey Welcome stroked 56 and Dawnley Grant, 37. Casmond Walters picked up 4 for 52 and Deighton Butler 3 for 4, bowling for Team Rivals.(RT)
