Cricket fest takes over May Day at Keartons Playing Field

Three 10-over matches and two T-20 fixtures in what was dubbed a “Cricket Fest”, was the way the Barrouallie Sports Association chose to celebrate the May Day activities at the Keartons Playing Field.{{more}}

When the stumps were drawn, Sand Crab, Spring Village, Valley Boys, Rudy’s Electrical and Summerset were the ones chirping with excitement.

Sand Crab trounced Youngsters by 36 runs. Batting first, Sand Crab chalked up 84 in their 10 overs. Karim Johnson and Lasford Barbour both hit 18.

Bowling for Youngsters, Cristroy John snapped up 3 for 20. In response, Youngsters could only reach 48 for 6 in their 10 overs.

Also, Spring Village humbled Keartons Warriors. Spring posted 65 in their allotment; Edson Williams – 28. Keartons were then restricted to 33 at their turn.

Joining the parade of winners were Valley Boys, who won a last over thriller over Buccament Warriors. Taking first strike, Buccament made 53. Needing 15 in the final over, Abourne Small steered Valley Boys to victory with two balls to spare.

And, in the two T-20 encounters, Rudy’s Electrical got the better of Tuff Mouth in a low scoring affair.

Tuff Mouth was dismissed for 59 in 14.5 overs. Alwin Lawrence top scored with 17. The pick of the bowlers for Rudy’s Electrical was Nicholas Reece, who picked up 4 for 16.

Rudy’s Electrical then went about the task, reaching the target in 15 overs, while losing four wickets in their pursuit.

And, closing off the day, Summerset thumped Reversionites by a sizeable 70 runs. Summerset was bowled out for 108 in 18.4 overs. The top scorer was John Williams, who made 37. Reversionites were blasted for 30 in 11 overs. (RT)
