Clubs looking to excel at National Championships

The main rivals in this Saturday’s Mustique Company National Club Track and Field Championships will be looking to topple the 2012 winners, X-Cel.{{more}}

Considered the real deal among the few active clubs which constitute the track and field database of Team Athletics SVG, anticipation is building, leading up to Saturday’s finals.

X-Cel will be challenged by X-Ceed Sports Club, Greathead, IT- DAT and the newly formed Negative To Positive (NTP).

However, it will be IT-DAT which will hold the numerical advantage on the day of decision.

Competition in the National Club Championships will be in the Under-16, Under-18, Under-20, Over-20 and veterans, for both males and females.

Organisers will be hoping that Saturday’s showdown will be better attended, following last Saturday’s teams competition, which was below par in all departments.

Many passed up the opportunity to be part of the competition which targetted athletes between the ages of 13 and 15.

The athletes in this age group have a chance to be part of the St Vincent and the Grenadines team for the Central American and Caribbean Age Group Championships, which take place in Curacao from June 29 to 30.(RT)
