The local squash organisation hosts the 2013 edition, which was set to begin yesterday, Thursday April 11, at the National Squash Centre, located at the National Lotteries Authority building in Paul’s Avenue.

Handing over the 20 trophies on Tuesday, was managing director of SVG General Services, Leroy Edwards, a former national and OECS champion.

Edwards, who has five sub-regional titles under his belt, said he was giving back to the sport, as he has benefitted from being involved in squash.

The tournament which ends tomorrow, Saturday, has participation from the British Virgin Islands and host St Vincent and the Grenadines.

The titles to be decided are the Under-11, Under-13, Under-15, Under-17 and Under-19, for both males and females.

St Vincent and the Grenadines are the defending champions.

Former national and OECS junior champion Kevin Hannaway is the tournament’s director.

From the OECS play-offs, the sub-regional junior team will be selected for the Caribbean championships, which are set for Trinidad and Tobago in July.(RT)
