Zefal Bailey on top in 28-mile cycling road race

Trevor Zefal Bailey came out on top last Sunday, in the 28-mile road race put on by the St Vincent and the Grenadines Cycling Union.{{more}}

Cycling the Ratho Mill to Roundabout route, Bailey won the seven-lap event in a time of 1 hour 26 minutes 02.37 seconds, leaving Lucky Antrobus to hold down the second spot 1 hour 26 minutes 02.65 seconds.

Completing the top three finishers of category one of the race was Cammie Adams, whose time was 1 hour 26 minutes. 03 seconds.

In the mountain bike category two, which was four laps, the top place finisher was Steve Ollivierre, who took 1hour 6 minutes 49.48 seconds to compete the 16-mile course.

Second was Colin Alexander in 1hour 9 minutes 03.28 seconds, with Jeff Lewis and David Thomas finishing in a dead heat in 1 hour 14 minutes 08.38 seconds.

The lone female cyclist was Niesha Alexander, who did 16 miles. Alexander, racing against herself, clocked 1 hour 17 minutes 15.68 seconds.

The next event on the cycling calendar will be a power sprint this Saturday from Lewis Pharmacy to Sion Hill, then a road race from the Roundabout to Ratho Mill and back nine times, a distance of 36 miles.(RT)
