Making the contacts on behalf of the SVG Taekwondo Association was International Taekwondo instructor Kevin Guy, who is of Vincentian parentage.

Guy, who was here recently and who is also the St Vincent and the Grenadines Taekwondo liaison officer, told SEARCHLIGHT last Monday that the task is now the local association’s to get the team to the Zaragoza event.

And, the association has one less issue to deal with, as Guy handed over a specially designed SVG uniform kit to the association in preparation for the March outing.

Guy, who was born in England, with the permission of the SVG Taekwondo Association and the International Taekwondo Federation (ITK), has represented St Vincent and the Grenadines at international meets.

He last competed under the Vincentian banner in October 2012 in the world championships, but was disqualified at the semifinal stage of the 78-kilogramme division for knocking out his Russian opponent.

Guy, who is also a kickboxing fighter and instructor as well, disclosed that 2013 will be another hectic period for him, as he has several engagements across Europe, where, once again, he will be representing SVG.

Meanwhile, president of the SVG Taekwondo Association Glenroy Gaymes expressed thanks to Guy for his continued assistance to the local body.

Gaymes said he was particularly grateful for the uniforms and accompanying belts, because it was an area where the association was deficient. (RT)
