The introductory event, put on by the secondary schools’ games committee, featured four schools.

Central Leeward took the female category, with Petit Bordel second.

The places were reversed in the male segment, Petit Bordel topped and Central Leeward was second.

The other competing schools were the St Vincent Grammar School and the Thomas Saunders Secondary.

The St Martin’s Secondary also participated.

Points were allocated to the finishers and tallied to their school’s standings.

The females ran 4km, which was 4 laps of the course, while the males did 5km.

Although his team did not take the first place, emerging middle distance athlete Cassique Olliver was the first to complete his 5km run in 17 minutes 15.0 seconds.

The schools’ cross-country race acted as a precursor to the 2013 Inter secondary schools track and field meet. (RT)
