Dembar gets national senior cricket team call

Off spinner Kenneth Dembar has earned a call-up to the St Vincent and the Grenadines senior team for the 2012 Windwards cricket tournament,{{more}} beginning November 30 in Dominica.

Dembar, who represented SVG at the Under-19 level in the Windwards tournament for the past two years, bolted his way into the Windwards outfit for the 2012 West Indies competition staged in Barbados.

He was able to establish a Windward Islands bowling record at that age grouping, when he snared 14 for 89 against Jamaica.

Joining Dembar as a debutant is left-handed opening batsman Kishore Shallow, who was in the reserve last year, when SVG hosted the tournament.

Whilst the duo are the new faces, right-arm fast bowler Dawnley Grant, who is at the Sagicor High Performance Centre in Barbados, is returning to the senior set-up after six years.

The teams will once again be led by wicket keeper/batsman Lindon James.

The rest of the team comprises Sunil Ambris, Miles Bascombe, Alston Bobb. Atticus Browne, Salvan Browne, Keron Cottoy, Donwell Hector, Dellorn Johnson and Kenroy Peters.

Out from last year’s team are batsman Hyron Shallow, who is out of state, as well as fast bowler Kesrick Williams, who is studying at the University of West Indies in Barbados.

The other is off spinner, Dyke Cato.SVG are the defending champions and will be looking to make it four in a row. (RT)
