The Vincentians finished at the bottom of the heap in the four-team semi- final group, played at the Dwight Yorke Stadium in Bacolet Tobago.

The home team needed a win over Suriname last Sunday to keep their hopes alive for a berth in the final.

But that was not to be, as Ronny Aloema converted a penalty in the 42nd minute after defender Darren Hamlet felled striker Giovanni Drenthe on the left side of the penalty box.

Suriname had lost their two previous matches 0-5 to Cuba and 0-3 to Trinidad and Tobago.

St Vincent and the Grenadines had previously drawn with host Trinidad and Tobago — 1-1 and Cuba — 1-1 last Wednesday and Friday respectively.

Myron Samuel netted for the Vincentians against the Trinidadians and Cornelius was the goal scorer in the draw with the Cubans.

Trinidad and Tobago finished top of the group with a 1-0 win over Cuba, to end with seven points.

Cuba took the runner-up spot with four points.

Suriname ended with three points and St Vincent and the Grenadines with two points.

Trinidad and Tobago and Cuba head to the final in Antigua and Barbuda, December 3 to 16. (RT)
