Masters Cricket final reset to this Sunday

The SVG Masters T-20 Cricket Competition final has been rescheduled to Sunday from 1 p.m. at Arnos Vale One Playing Field.{{more}}

Starting afresh would be defending champions LOG Enterprises Kingstown and North Leeward Combined.

The final was rescheduled because of rain last Sunday.

When the match was called off, Kingstown was 50 for 2 off 8.5 overs, with the contest reduced to 15 overs per team.

Joseph Carrington was on 29 not out.

Kingstown and North Leeward earned their places in the final, following triumphs on Saturday, over Stanley Browne Stubbs and Sion Hill, respectively.

At the Arnos Vale Playing Field, Kingstown stopped Stubbs by 6 wickets.

Stubbs posted 103 for 9 from their 20 overs. Oneil Thomas was the lead batsman, with 54.

Bowling for Kingstown, Felix Greaves took 2 for 10 and Collin Shoy 2 for 23.

Winsbert Springer then made 31 not out and Ancil Hooper 29, as Kingstown responded with 104 for 4 in 18.4 overs. Micah Joseph was Stubbs’ most successful bowler, taking 2 for 11.

At Buccament, North Leeward Combined defeated Sion Hill by 15 runs.

North Leeward were dismissed for 111 in the 20 overs.

William Edwards topscored with 31 and Wallistan Stapleton hit 29.

Bowling for Sion Hill, Dodgride Small bagged 4 for 17 and William “Bill” Edwards had 2 for 19.

Sion Hill were restricted to 96 for 7 from their allotment of 20 overs, despite Sylvester Vanloo’s 29.

Reginald Jeffrey was the lead bowler for North Leeward with 2 for 18.

The presentation and closing ceremony will take place following Sunday’s final. (RT)
