SVG are grouped with Trinidad and Tobago, Suriname and Cuba for the November 14 to 18 Group 8 showdown at the Dwight Yorke Stadium in Tobago.

Four teams are seeking the two qualifying places for the final phase, set for Antigua and Barbuda December 3 to 16.

“The group is very tough, but with the players we have, we can [go] there and achieve a lot, once we play as a team and not as individuals … We have to be our brothers’ keeper,” Huggins told SEARCHLIGHT Thursday at the Victoria Park, as the team was in its last stages of fine tuning.

He said he has also been instilling in the players mutual respect for each other, which, he said, adds to team morale.

SVG earned a berth to the second round after placing second to Guyana in the first round in St Lucia in October.

Huggins revealed that since the St Lucia sojourn, he and his technical team have been working on the aspects of finishing, defending the long balls and set-plays.

SVG open against Trinidad and Tobago, tomorrow – Wednesday — at 8 p.m. Before them, Suriname and Cuba meet from 6 p.m.

The Vincentians play their second match on Friday versus Cuba first at 6 p.m.

That same night, Trinidad and Tobago engage Suriname from 8:00.

SVG’s final match will be against Suriname on Sunday from 6 p.m., followed by the Trinidad and Tobago versus Cuba encounter at 8 p.m.

Group 6, which will be played simultaneously in Grenada, involves Guyana, Haiti, French Guyana and the host.

The two top finishers from this group, along with host Antigua and Barbuda, defending champions Jamaica, Martinique, and the Dominican Republic will complete the eight finalists.

The four semi-finalists at the Antigua and Barbuda finale qualify for the CONCACAF Gold Cup in the USA in July 2013. (RT)
