Clinchers notch up another win in Biabou Softball tourney

Reigning champions of the Biabou Softball Cricket competition Pine Hill Dairy Clinchers continued their defence of the title with an 8-wicket triumph over Young Strikers, Saturday at the Biabou Playing Field.{{more}}

Young Strikers were dismissed for 93, with Shane Henry and Zimroy Stapleton both making 21, and Zaniel Stapleton 20.

Bowling for Clinchers, Curlan John took 3 for 25 and Okeiph Andrews 2 for 1.

In response, Clinchers rushed to 98 for 2. Okeiph Andrews hit 30 not out and Oheyon Toby 27.

On Sunday, Biabou United, batting first, posted 124 all out against Simon Patriots.

Hermus Ashton led the scoring with 37 and Raffique Ashton made 33.

Romano Ellis was the Patriots’ best bowler with 4 for 16.

But Simon Patriots’ reply stopped at 94, falling short by 30 runs.

They were undone by the bowling of Holding Allen, who grabbed 3 for 27, Lawrence Ashton with 2 for 10, Kevin Greene 2 for 14 and Noel Samuel 2 for 18.

Also on the victory list was Dr Thomas Injectors, who overcame Y De Lima Hotspurs by 1 wicket.

Batting first, Hot Spurs were bowled out for 75. Kamon Greene top scored with 26.

Damien Allen — 3 for 18, Kesron Ashton — 2 for 7, Emil Small — 2 for 11 and Augustine Corridon — 2 for 22, shared the wickets for Dr Thomas Injectors.

In reply, Dr Thomas Injectors got over the line, but at 76 for 9.

Hot Spurs’ bowling saw Dyke Cato taking 3 for 13 and Donaldson Henry 2 for 17.

On Saturday, Bank of SVG All Stars won by default against Simon Patriots.(RT)
