FIFA officials visit SVG

Two officials from football world’s governing body, FIFA, visited St Vincent and the Grenadines to engage in talks with football and government personnel.{{more}}

The FIFA team comprised Development Manager for the Americas Gregory Engel-Brecht of Switzerland and FIFA’s Development Officer for the CONCACAF region, Jamaican Howard McIntosh.

The FIFA delegation met with Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves at cabinet room on October 29, to discuss the proposed development of two stadium sites here.

The delegation leader, Engel-Brecht, said the visit was to see how government and the local federation can work together to develop these plans.

The FIFA officials also met with Minister of Tourism, Sports and Culture Cecil “Ces” McKie, Parliamentary Secretary in that Ministry Senator Elvis Charles, President of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Football Federation Venold Coombs, its first vice-president Lloyd Small, committee member Donald Thomas and Stadium Development Officer of the SVGFF, Raymond Trimmingham.

The delegation also visited the Brighton playing field, where work on the SVGFF’s goal project is ongoing. They also visited the proposed site for the national stadium at Diamond. (RT)
