SVG celebrates World Squash Day

A World Record may be on the cards for the biggest sports match in history. On World Squash Day, October 20, squash matches were played in over 70 countries by more than 800 clubs involving approximately 40,000 players.{{more}} Each club was divided into two teams, Team Squash and Team 2020, in a competition where the first player to score 20 points won the match. Team Squash had registered 6,146 wins against 5,942 wins for Team 2020.

SVG Squash Association hosted an event in the form of a fundraising BBQ and a Squash-A-Ton featuring junior players. Twenty-six players competed, with Team Squash being victorious, winning 7-6 over Team 2020. SVG joined countries like UAE, USA, Paraguay, Egypt, France, Australia, Czech Republic and Singapore in this event; the Caribbean was represented by Cayman Islands, Trinidad and Tobago and the British Virgin Islands.

SVG winners were: Team Squash: Lucky-Ann Ross, Don-Austin Moss, Zachary Browne, Akeem Constance, Giovanna Miller-Alexander, Deiriai Myers, Louchanna. Team 2020: Jada Ross, Jathin Jiandani, Geronimo Ross, Kai Bentick and Jason Doyle.
