John powers CGM Novice to victory

Roderick John powered his way to 109 to lead CGM Novice to victory with 202 for 4 in 16 overs, Sunday at the Dauphine Playing Field, as the National Lotteries Authority Top Belair Progressive Organisation T-20 Softball Cricket competition continued.{{more}}

John’s knock was propped up by Renrick Williams’ 34 not out, while Dean Farrell made 20.

Bowling for Sunset Strikers, Kayron Cumberbatch stood in the way of the onslaught with 2 for 51.

In reply, Sunset Strikers reached 84 for 8 in their 16 overs. Anthoniel Palmer made 16.

Bowling for Novice, Roderick John completed a good all-round effort with 3 for 16. Kentish Phillips had 2 for17 and Trevor Bute 2 for 21.

Also on Sunday, Gomea Bombers defeated Mc Little Saints by 39 runs.

Gomea batted first and made 166 for 7 in their 20 overs. Carlos Williams — 48 not out, and Ovando O’Brien — 47, led Gomea’s batting.

Amos Clarke took 2 for 28, to be Little Saints’ most successful bowler.

Little Saints’ response ended at 127 all out in 19.2 overs.

Jamal Alexander hit 40 and Frederick Jack made 29, in a losing cause.

Bowling for Gomea, Sylvannus Morgan grabbed 3 for 7 and Kendall Payne 2 for 25.

Sunday’s first match brought together Dr Thomas Injectors and ASCO.

Sunil Ambris laced 81, to lead Dr Thomas Injectors to 173 for 9 from 20 overs.

ASCO was then dismissed for 98 in 17.2 overs.

Deran Bute scored 37 and Damian Chance 20, as Agustine Corridon — 3 for 27, Emil Small — 2 for 6 and Kesron Ashton — 2 for 17, bowled their team to victory.

Saturday’s two matches saw defending champions, RSVG Police losing by default to Bangers, as the lawmen failed to field a team.

Also on Saturday, ASCO and Pine Hill Dairy Clinchers shared the points as their match was rained out. (RT)
