The race comes two weeks after a relatively successful hosting of the NACAC international road relay classic in Kingstown.

The race begins at 3 p.m., at the old Tourouma Government School and concludes at “The Mall” area in Georgetown.

Chair of the commission Leroy Llewellyn reiterated to SEARCHLIGHT on Tuesday that his organisation would not be organising buses for the races this year.

He said it has become a financial burden for Team Athletics SVG to transport persons from various parts of the island to participate in the races, as was done in previous years.

Llewellyn also stated that Sunday’s race will be primarily for residents of North Windward, but he said he was anticipating the same level of participation, as the district has a history of turning out many athletes to such events.

Sunday’s race is the first of the three LOG Enterprise sponsored road races, under a scaled-down 2012 calendar.

The other two races are the Sion Hill Sprint on November 11 and the North Leeward road race on November 25.

Llewellyn confirmed that the usual prize monies would be rewarded to the top finishers in the various categories.

Axed from this year’s programme are the cross country run, which normally takes place at the Diamond Industrial site, and the Byera Hill race, from Rabacca to Byera Hill. (RT)
