VINLEC dethrone Bank of SVG to take Rotary Softball title

Power company VINLEC Saturday night dethroned Bank of SVG to take the Rotary Softball fun cricket festival under the lights at the Arnos Vale Netball complex.{{more}}

In the final, VINLEC batted first and posted 60 for 2, then restricted the 2011 champions to 54 for 3.

In getting to the finals, VINLEC also last Saturday evening got past Ruddy’s Electrical in the last of their preliminary matches. VINLEC made 64 for 5 and Ruddy’s Electrical 61 for 5.

Then, in the quarterfinals, Vinlec saw off Scotia Bank. Vinlec notched up 88 for 7, to which Scotia Bank replied with 63 for 4.

And in the semi-finals, VINLEC overcame CK Greaves.

Scores: Vinlec 58 for 1, CK Greaves 56 for 4.

On the other hand, Bank of SVG dismissed Karib Cable in the quarterfinals. Bank of SVG was 99 for 5 and Karib Cable 60 for 8.

In setting up the meeting with VINLEC in the final, Bank of SVG engaged ECGC in the semi-final.

Bank of SVG scored 81 for 6 and ECGC responded with 65 for 8.

The other quarter-finalists were the 2011 defeated finalist the National Sports Council and the St Vincent Brewery.

An awards ceremony is planned for a date to be announced.
