The promotion of beach volleyball is part of the mandate of the North America, Central America and Caribbean Volleyball federation (NORCECA) to get this aspect going, as it is one of the fast growing activities.

De Campos will also lend his knowledge to the regular volleyball, assisting with the preparation of the senior female St Vincent and the Grenadines team, which heads out next month for the Eastern Caribbean Volleyball Association (ECVA) finals in Antigua and Barbuda.

The Brazilian who has over 25 years experience in coaching the sport, will also assist those secondary schools which have a volleyball programme.

De Campos told SEARCHLIGHT on Tuesday at the Girls’ High School hard court that he intends to teach the volleyballers here as much as possible and show them how much volleyball can be fun.

Nikita Campbell, who is a member of the local beach volleyball commission and an active player on the national female team, said her commission was happy that the management of the Buccament Bay Resort was accommodating, in allowing them to use their facilities to carry out the beach volleyball exercise.

Campbell said their input is vital, as there are no other places that can provide such a facility for beach volleyball.

Campbell said she was excited by the visit of De Campos and looks forward to him imparting his vast knowledge as volleyball continues to resurge in St Vincent and the Grenadines.

De Campos has made similar visits to other Eastern Caribbean islands. (RT)
