SVG backs squash campaign
The SVG Squash Association joins over 180 countries to back the bid for squash to be an Olympic Sport in the 2020 Olympic Games.{{more}}
SVG Squash has submitted a short video to be included in the various presentations being made by the World Squash Federation (WSF), as they spearhead the bid.
Some of the reasons why squash would be an asset to the Olympic Games are:
o Squash is played in 185 countries on 50,000 courts
o All five continental regions have produced world champions
o Squash is played in every major multi-sport games, including the Commonwealth, Pan American, Asian and World Games
o Squash was recently voted the âworldâs healthiest sportâ by Forbes Magazine
o All glass courts allow maximum spectator viewing
o Electronic technology, including referee decisions and big screen reviews, are already in use
SVG Squash players are excited at the prospect of participating in the 2020 Olympic Games. It means that current and future players will play the sport with the energy and focus on this great possibility. SVG Squash anxiously awaits the outcome of the BID.
