The final, postponed from last Sunday because of heavy rains, will see the winners of the inaugural competition in 2011, Dem Boys of Mespo, facing off with Comsports Masters.

The winner’s purse of $2,500 is up for grabs, with the runner-up earning $1,500.

The most valuable player of the final will be rewarded also.

Dem Boys of Mespo, in getting to the final, saw off Je Belle 2-1 in semi-final action on Thursday.

A goal each from Romano Snagg and Amon Bascombe carried the tally for Dem Boys, while Emerald George replied for Je Belle.

Last Wednesday, Comsports Masters edged out DESCO Attackers, thanks to a Fitzroy Shallow goal.

DESCO Attackers went on to cop the third place on Saturday, when they beat Je Belle 1-nil. DESCO Attackers for the win earned $1,000 and Je Belle $500.

In the quarter-finals Dem Boys of Mespo edged out Jarplum Highlanders 1-nil, while Je Belle had a similar score line against last year’s losing finalists, Carib Warriors.

Other quarter-finals results saw DESCO Attackers beating Brighton United 2-1 and Comsports Masters blanking Sea Operations Greiggs 4 goals to nil.

Following Sunday’s final, the presentation ceremony will take place, when the individual awards will be declared.

The best goalkeeper, the best defender, the best midfielder, the top goal scorer and the most valuable player of the overall competition will be recognised.

Also to be announced is the most disciplined team in the competition, which included 18 teams. (RT)
