Novice roll over Glen United

One of the powerhouses of the National Lotteries Authority Top Belair Progressive Organisation Softball T/20 Cricket Competition, CGM Novice, rolled over Glen United by 32 runs, in one of five matches played last weekend at the Dauphine Playing Field.{{more}}

Novice rattled up 177 for 7 from their 20 overs, led by Roderick John’s 55 and Glenroy Dazell, who made 28.

Bowling for Glen, Marcus Hackshaw picked up 2 for 28.

In response, Glen’s innings stopped at 145 for 4 from their 20 overs. Marcus Hackshaw compiled 50 and Henderson Morgan contributed 28, as well as 29 extras, but all told, they were not enough for them to cross the line.

Also championing over their opponents was Vincom Nex Level, who recorded a 70-run win at the expense of Warriors in Saturday’s other match.

Nex Level batted first and made 119 all out in 19.5 overs. Elroy Cumberbatch was the topscorer with 24.

Bowling for Warriors, Desroy Lavia took 3 for 21; Augustine Jennings had 2 for 21 and David Fairbain had 2 for 23.

Nex Level’s bowlers, led by Courtney Joyette, who bagged 5 for 17 and Enoch James 2 for 13, dismissed Warriors for 49.

On Sunday, Sea Operations Nar Fren Dem got the better of Dr Thomas Injectors by seven wickets.

Injectors were dismissed for 58 in 13. 3 overs. Travis Peters — 3 for 6, Keno Matthews — 3 for 19 and Zeron Harry — 2 for 2, were the main wicket takers for Nar Fren Dem, who then posted 61 for 3. Jamal John hit 34 not out. Kezron Ashton took 2 for 12, bowling for Injectors.

Likewise, Gairy Construction Simple Boys carved out a 15-run win over Valley Boys.

Shawn O’ Garro — 3 for 15, Randolph Bascombe — 3 for 21, Rommel Jack — 2 for 4 and Keithland Cudjoe — 2 for 17, all combined to see off Simple Boys for 93 all out in 18.2 overs.

Valley Boys did not fare better, as they were sent tumbling for 78 in 20 overs. Kenny Hunte — 3 for 7, Travis Cumberbatch — 2 for 14 and Eldon Morris — 2 for 14, were the main wicket takers for Simple Boys.

And, Bank of SVG All Stars beat Older Boys by six wickets.

Older Boys batted first and posted 127 for 9 from their allotment of 20 overs. Noel Miller was the lead batsman with 23, as Desmond Blucher took 2 for 21, Desmond Bramble had 2 for 26 and Debrian Pitt picked up 2 for 35.

All Stars responded with 128 for 4; Newborn Joseph made 59 and Kentish Pope 32. Junior Bacchus was Older Boys’ most successful bowler, taking 3 for 21. Another five matches are set for this weekend.

On Saturday, from 1 p.m., Nar Fren Dem meets Georgie Valley Stars and from 3 p.m., ASCO takes on Warriors.

On Sunday at 10 a.m., Vincom Nex Level engages Bangers, while Warriors face up with Pine Hill Dairy Clinchers.

Gomea Bombers and Bank of SVG All Stars meet from 3 p.m. in the feature match of the weekend. (RT)
