Samuel scores big in Masters T/20 cricket

The opening of the 2012 SVG Masters T/20 cricket competition was greeted with 125, from the bat of Leon Samuel, as he led Stanley Browne Stubbs’ batting at the Arnos Vale One Playing Field.{{more}}

Samuel’s knock propelled Stubbs to 204 for 6, from their 20 overs against Da Silva La Croix. Kurt Joseph hit 31.

Bowling for La Croix, Amos Richards snared 3 for 34 and Juney Tesheira 3 for 56.

At their turn, La Croix was skittled out for 61 in 17. 4 overs. Benedict Philips topscored with 27, as Stubbs won by 143 runs.

On Sunday morning, Joyette’s Auto Slater Development Pastures defeated Glamorgan by 53 runs.

Pastures posted 131 for 4 from their allotted 20 overs, with Frederick Trimmingham making 34 and Lennox Grant 31.

Glamorgan, in response, reached 78 for 9 off 20 overs. Frederick Trimmingham was the pick of Pastures’ bowling, with 5 for 5.

And, later on Sunday, also at the Arnos Vale One venue, C.K. Greaves Vintage Arnos Vale got the better of Bickles Fun Masters by 81 runs.

Former national players Monty Warner with 53 and Mc Neil Morgan with 27, led Arnos Vale’s innings of 158 for 5 off 20 overs.

In reply, Bickles Fun Masters were dismissed for 77 in 19.3 overs. Lauren Baptiste struck 24.

Bowling for Arnos Vale, Pat Warner grabbed 3 for 11 and Elvis Woods 3 for 14. (RT)
