Gomea Bombers return in style

Gomea Bombers returned to the National Lotteries Authority Top Belair Progressive Organisation Softball Cricket Competition after a few years absence, and last Saturday, stopped Sunset Strikers by 165 runs at the Dauphine Playing Field.{{more}}

Bombers batted first and made 223 for 8 in 20 overs. Ovando O’Brien made 52, Krisoff Gibson 38 and Andre Woods 28. Bowling for Sunset Strikers, Ian Bushay took 2 for 16. In reply, Sunset Strikers reached 58 for 8 in 20 overs, undone by the bowling of Kemron John, who had 2 for 10 and Bernard Bushay, 2 for 19.

Also on Saturday, ASCO undermined CGM Georgie Valley Stars. ASCO reached 128 for 6 in 20 overs, batting first. Roger Gibson was the lead batsman with 38, and Sheldon Nanton hit 26.

Bowling for Georgie Valley Stars, Andrew Hackshaw took 2 for 27 and Emerson Quashie had 2 for 28.

Georgie Valley Stars were then dismissed for 66 in 18 overs.

There were two wickets apiece for Niko Robinson, Sheldon Nanton, Vernardo Primus, Jevon Nero and Rajiv Roberts.

On Sunday, Clinchers disposed of Bangers by nine wickets.

Bangers posted 87 all out in 19.1overs, as Corlon John took 3 for 12 and Molden Scrub 3 for 28, bowling for ASCO. In response, Clinchers reached 88 for 1 in 7 overs. Donwell Hector belted 51, not out.

Sunday’s other match-up was won by Gairy’s Construction Simple Boys over Glen United.

Simple Boys’ innings got to 106, all out. Eldon Morris made 25.

Bowling for Glen, Darren Henry snapped up 2 for 26 and Korwyn Browne 2 for 28.

Glen, at their turn, was dismissed for 69. Maxton Hackshaw was the topscorer with 22.

Simple Boys’ bowling was led by Desron Maloney, who grabbed 3 for 8 and Stein Joseph who had 3 for 14.

The other scheduled match was affected by rain. Bank of SVG All Stars and Valley Boys shared the points in the abandoned match.(RT)
