Football fans win prizes from Digicel

Two lucky persons who attended the Caribbean Football Union’s (CFU) Group Four qualifiers at the Victoria Park recently, went home with brand new Blackberry cellular phones,{{more}} thanks to communications company Digicel.

The Digicel Blackberry Curve (9360) handsets were given away during the half time segments of the second games which were held on August 10 and 12.

On August 10, during half-time of the second game (St Vincent vs Guyana) three persons, Hodijah John of Choppins, Kevern Cyrus of King’s Hill and Jasmine Browne of Sion Hill, were given the opportunity to kick for the handset.

Persons who had gathered at the Victoria Park were asked to answer the question: “What was one promotion that Digicel ran during the Olympic games?” John, Cyrus and Browne were the first three persons to text the correct answer to the Digicel number provided and were therefore given the opportunity to kick for the handset. John was the only one to score and, as a result, won the Blackberry.

On August 12, Wendell Prescod, Elron Poyer and Moeth Gaymes were the first persons to answer the question: “How many gold medals did Jamaica win during the Olympics?”

Gaymes was the only one that managed to kick the ball in the net from the half line mark. Gaymes said that he was thankful for the opportunity to win the phone and added that he was able to kick the ball accurately, as he is a goal-keeper with the Barrouallie football team.

Also on August 8, Kevon Samuel, Lorson Lewis and Vanessa Lewis got the chance to kick. Samuel won, while Lorson found the night once and won himself EC$100 credit.

The handset was handed over on August 10 by Digicel’s Marketing Executive Justin John and on August 12 by Digicel’s Marketing Manager Juno DeRoche. Corporate Accounts Manager Brenda Barbour-Charles was also present.

DeRoche said that the competition had been held, as they wanted to provided a bit of half-time entertainment, as well as give persons the opportunity to win great prizes.
