Teams jostle for place in Bequia basketball finals
Teams participating in the 2012 Vita Malt Bequia Basketball Association Tournament are beginning to display their skills as they jostle for positions in the play-off.{{more}}
With preliminaries of the tournament at the midway stage, Young Wizards are out front in the Courts SVG Limited Under-16 Division, with Dragons, who have played more matches, in second place on points.
Hornets and Rockets are in touching distance of the front runners.
Hawks and Titans are the two other teams contesting that division.
In the Second Division, Wizards lead the four-team table, ahead of Blazin Heat, Young Duke and Rising Stars, in that order.
Duke remains unbeaten in the First Division, over their four other opponents. East Blazers rest in second place and last yearâs champions Bequia Tech Rising Stars are lumbering in third position.
The two other teams in that division are Gladiatorz and Warriaz.
The play-offs for the Under-16 Division are scheduled to commence on August 22, with the first semi-final of the Second Division slated for Saturday, August 25.
The big guns in the First and Second Divisions jump off their quest for the championship with the best of three series final on Wednesday, August 29. The second matches are set for Saturday, September 1, with the possibility of the presentation and closing ceremony taking place thereafter, depending on the results.
If necessary, a game three and the presentation will take place on Sunday, September 2. (RT)
