North Leeward T/20 gaining speed

The 2012 VINLEC North Leeward Twenty20 Cricket tournament gained some speed last weekend, as three matches were contested at the Petit Bordel Playing Field.{{more}}

Last Saturday Peto Stars scraped home with a two-run victory over Back Lash of Rose Bank.

Peto Stars scored 169 for 8 off 20 overs, Jamuel Matthews scored 50, while Jadie John grabbed 3 for 34, bowling for Back Lash.

In reply, Back Lash was dismissed for 168 off 15 overs Ronique LaBorde led the charge with 81; Emron Samuel scored.50.

But it was Vongel Small’s 3 for 27, Vedal Edwards’ 3 for 44, which halted Back Lash’s progress, as they failed to capitalize from a position of 147 for 2 off 10 overs.

In the first match on Sunday, Ajuba of Spring Village had a comfortable 41-run victory over Future Legends of Rose Hall.

Ajuba scored 184 for 5 off 15 overs, as the match was shortened because of rain. Kesrick Williams hit 58 and Kenny Stapleton 55.

Future Legends were then restricted to 143 for 7 off their 15 overs. Selrick Caine made a topscore of 33, Jimal Jeffery grabbed 3 for 29, to be Ajuba’s most successful bowler.

In last Sunday’s other fixture, Somerset recorded a 79-run victory over Ruddy’s Electrical.

Somerset posted 205 for 3 off 20 overs; Verbert King made 89.

Ruddy’s Electrical could only make 126 off 15.4 overs, Norlan Williams made 38, as Kevin Small grabbed 3 for 20 and Ralmore Pierre 3 for 27.

Four matches are carded for this weekend.
