Black Sands swim squad hosts summer sports camp

Black Sands Swim Squad, St Vincent and the Grenadines newest and fastest growing swimming club, is hosting its first ever summer sports camp. In association with Lime and Vitamalt, Black Sands will be providing three weeks of action-packed, exciting sports activities.{{more}}

The first week-long session begins Monday July 30 at the Shrewsbury house pool in Ratho Mill. The camp will run Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Black Sands coaches Sarah Smith and Kyle Dougan organised the camp with children in mind. All campers will participate in activities that help them to gain basic movement skills and improve physical fitness. In addition to developing the athletic abilities of the campers, the camp will be filled with opportunities to laugh, play and enjoy the summer. There will be a variety of program sessions such as swim lessons, basic gymnastics, field sports, running, stretching and arts and crafts.

Coach Kyle Dougan said: “This is a great opportunity for children from around the island to experience the pool. Each camper will spend a good portion of their day in the water and participate in learn to swim activities according to their level. We hope that many of the campers will join us throughout the year on the swim team.”

In a release, Black Sands Swim Squad acknowledged the title sponsors Lime and Vitamalt.

“Their support of the Summer Sports Camp provides for an outreach program that will bring children from around the island to participate in camp free of charge,” the release said.

The registration fee is $100 per camper, per week session. The registration fee covers daily lunch, jersey, pool usage fee and all camp materials.
