SVG U-19 beat Dominica by an innings

St Vincent and the Grenadines’ Under-19 Cricket team has positioned itself to lift the 2012 Windward Islands two-day competition, which ends today, Friday, July 20, in Dominica.{{more}}

After having to settle for a ‘no decision’ in their opening fixture against Grenada, the Vincentians completed an innings defeat on host Dominica on Tuesday.

Ray Jordan took 5 for 36 and Kenneth Dembar 4 for 42, as Dominica was dismissed for 95, batting first.

In response, St Vincent and the Grenadines posted 252. Kimron Quashie struck 60, Gidron Pope 54, Kenneth Dembar 54 and Ray Jordan 27.

Bowling for Dominica, Dylan Joseph took 3 for 43, Brian Nelly 3 for 53 and Ian Lewis 2 for 42.

Jelani Robinson was the top scorer with 25, as Dominica was bowled out for 124 in their second innings, to give St Vincent and the Grenadines a win by an innings and 33 runs.

Kenneth Dembar grabbed 4 for 49, Thomas 3 for 15 and Ray Jordan 2 for 25.

In the other second round match, Grenada beat St Lucia by 122 runs.

Grenada made 181, led by Roland Cato’s 101, not out. St Lucia in reply scored 83.

Batting a second time, Grenada declared at 155 for 5. Nikosi St Hillaire hit 51, not out and Roland Cato 34, not out. Larry Edward snared 4 for 63.

Set 254 to win, St Lucia was dismissed for 131. Tariq Gabriel compiled 44 and Vidal Crandon 28.

Bowling for Grenada, Thomas Lewis had 4 for 30 and Chris Greenidge 4 for 31.

The decisive last round showed St Vincent and the Grenadines meeting St Lucia and Dominica versus Grenada. (RT)
