Bequia Basketball Tournament opens tomorrow
The 14th Annual Bequia Basketball Tournament opens tomorrow Saturday, July 14, at 6:00 p.m. at the Clive Tannis Hard Court in Bequia.{{more}}
Fifteen teams, stashed in three divisions, are registered to participate in the tournament.
In the First Division are Duke, East Blazers, Gladiatorz, Warriaz and Bequia Tech Rising Stars.
Blazing Heat, Rising Stars II, Young Duke and the Wizards are drawn in the Second Division and in the Courts SVG Ltd, Vita Malt and Mary Tidland Foundation of Canada Under-16 Division, Young Wizards, Hornets, Titans, Hawks and Rockets are battling for supremacy.
Saturdayâs opening will begin with the March Past of teams, which will mark the official start of the competition, followed by addresses by various dignitaries, the presentation of two Appreciation awards, and an award for the Best Dressed Team.
From 8 p.m., a Second Division Ball-o-rama will bounce off, followed by the feature game, which is an exhibition game with the Bequia Basketball Association All-stars versus the Union All-stars from 10 p.m.
The tournament begins in earnest on Sunday, with Rockets meeting Titans in the Under-16, followed by Stars versus Blazing Heat in a Second Division fixture and in the First Division, Stars engage Duke.
The tournament is scheduled to climax on September 2, with matches carded for Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Wednesdays.
