BCL resumes this weekend

The Brooklyn Cricket League (BCL) resumes this weekend, with all four Vincentian outfits: Cavaliers, Middlesex, Imperial, and Queensbury in action.{{more}}

The competition took a break last weekend to make way for the Vincentian team players to head home for Carnival celebrations.

Tomorrow, Saturday, July 14, is another all-Vincy clash at Marine Park, A between Queensbury and Middlesex, while at Marine Park C, Imperial plays Diplomats, with Cavaliers and Sheffield meeting at Sea View.

When the BCL last saw action two weekends ago, there were wins for Cavaliers and Middlesex.

At Marine Park C, Cavaliers clashed with Queensbury in an all- Vincy affair for the second time and the result was the same as the first time. Batting first, Cavaliers made 223 for 7 off 27 overs. Sarathy Jagadeesans topscored with 102 not out, and Osbert Browne made 38.

Bowling for Queensbury, Vin John took 3 for 3.

At their turn, Queensbury crumbled and was all out for 93 in 22 overs; Ashton Michael with 30 and Dexter Corbin 16, were the only batmen who got to double figures.

Bowling for Cavaliers, Damion Reid had 4 for 21; Timothy Warner took 2 for 23 and Ezekiel Williams 2 for 16.

Also on that Sunday at Marine Park B, Middlesex faced up with Wanderers. Middlesex won the toss and elected to bat and reached 232 for 4 in 35 overs.

Joseph Ledwridge struck 75, which included 10 fours and one six; Skipper Andre Kirton, in his usual aggressive style, made 43, which included 2 sixes, and three 4’s. Freddie Roopchand contributed 41.

Bowling for Wanderers, George Sutherland had 2 for 2.

Wanderers replied with 173 for 7 in 35 overs. George Sutherland compiled 60, made up of 3 sixes and three 4’s.

Bowling for Middlesex, Claymont Rose had 3 for 36 and Mark Audain took 2 for 18, as Middlesex won by 59 runs.(RT)
