Emerging young footballer Oalex Anderson was adjudged the Most Outstanding Player overall of the 2012 National Inter League Community Football Competition,{{more}} when the St Vincent and the Grenadines Football Federation carried out its awards ceremony last Monday night at the Peace Memorial Hall.

Anderson, who was the talisman for the Barrouallie team, which clinched the Senior Division of the competition, was also a fulcrum for the Under-17 outfit, which, like the seniors, was crowned champion.

The award though, came as a surprise to the 17-year-old Anderson, a fourth form student of the Central Leeward Secondary School.

The effervescent Anderson told SEARCHLIGHT minutes after the announcement: “I feel real, real good, but was not expecting it.”

Anderson said he was not expecting such an award, since he was one of the youngest players to participate in the Senior Division.

Anderson was one of a crop of players still at secondary school, who were exposed by the Barrouallie senior team.

But for Anderson, who idolizes Portugal’s Captain, Christian Ronaldo, it was not the only accolade he received on the night, as he was named the Most Outstanding Striker in the Under-17 Division.

Already being groomed for further rise, Anderson was youngest player on the St Vincent and the Grenadines team at the multi-discipline Windward Islands Schools Games in Dominica last year.

And, earlier this year, he was part of a St Vincent and the Grenadines Under-20 team which engaged the Liverpool Under-18 Academy team in a one-off match here at the Arnos Vale Playing Field.

Anderson is currently on the training squad for the St Vincent and the Grenadines Under-20 team, which is preparing for World Cup Qualifiers. (RT)
