Gomea Methodist doubles up in WSG Primary Schools’ Cricket Competition

Coreas/ Hazells Inc Gomea Methodist Primary School completed the double last Sunday at the Belair Playing Field, when they won the Knock Out title{{more}} in the first ever KFC West St. George Primary School Under-15 Twenty/20 Cricket Competition.

After clinching the league earlier in the season, Gomea went on to beat the Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Belair Primary School by 30 runs in the Knock Out finals.

Gomea batted first and scored 120 all out in 14.4-overs; Dilshon Welcome topscored with 33 and Chris Payne made 32.

Bowling for Belair, Dominic Richards captured 4 for 13, Jawanza Woods took 2 for 18 and Jaheil Walters finished with 2 for 35.

Belair, in reply, was dismissed for 90 in 15.3-overs; Dominic Richards led the way with 17 and Mandela King made 14; Chris Payne bagged 3 for 25, bowling for Gomea Methodist.

In getting to the elimination phase, Gomea Methodist had defeated the First Caribbean International Bank Sion Hill Government by 75 runs, while Belair got the better of the St. Vincent Teachers’ Union Co-operative Credit Union Belmont Primary School by six wickets.

Belair ended both the League and Knock Out as runner up to Gomea.

The other team which participated in the inaugural competition was LOG Enterprises Dorsetshire Hill Primary.(RT)
