Two Vincentians make Windwards Under-15 Cricket team

Two Vincentians, Vincent Cupid and Jurani Baptiste, have been selected for the Windwards Under-15 team for the 2012 West Indies Tournament, set for later this year.{{more}}

The pair was among a 14-member team selected from the Windwards tournament, which concluded last Saturday in Grenada.

Champions Grenada have procured five picks in Anil Matthew, Jenson Mitchell, Darel Cyrus, Ryan John and Shakeim Charles. Second place St Lucia also secured five selectees. Making the final cut are St Lucians Christian Charlrey, Joshua Mann, Nick Elibore, Johmell Eugene and Vernillus Gabriel.

The team is completed by two Dominicans: Brian Joseph and Deon Burton.

Two other Vincentians have been named in the reserve in Glenroy Jacobs and Shane Roberts. The other reserves are Leic Charles of Dominica and Josh Matthew of Grenada.

Coming out of the tournament were two centurions in Vennilus Gabriel and Jenson Mitchell.

Gabriel scored the most runs in the tournament, 230.

Copping the Best Wicket Keeper was Deon Burton of Dominica, with Christian Charlrey, the highest wicket taker, with his 16 scalps.

Charlrey was voted his team’s Most Valuable Player and the tournament’s overall MVP.

The other MVP’s were Vincent Cupid – St Vincent and the Grenadines, Deon Burton – Dominica and Anil Matthew – Grenada. (RT)
