National Under-15 Cricket team finishes third in Windwards tournament

The St Vincent and the Grenadines Under-15 Cricket team finished third in the Windward Islands age group tournament, which was contested in Grenada and completed last Saturday.{{more}}

Their third placing was an improvement on the last three previous outings, when they occupied the last position in the four-islands set up.

The Vincentians won their opening fixture against Dominica, which turned out to be their only triumph.

Both St Vincent and the Grenadines and Dominica had one win apiece and finished on three points; however, the Vincentians claimed their final standing, having a superior net run rate over the Dominicans.

St Vincent and the Grenadines had a -1.874 net run rate and Dominica -1.781.

Playing two rounds against each other, St Vincent and the Grenadines defeated Dominica by seven wickets. Dominica scored 184 to which the Vincentians replied with 186 for 3.

In the other encounter versus Dominicans, the tables were turned. Dominica posted 196 for 8, then restricted St Vincent and the Grenadines to 139 for 9, to win by 57 runs.

St Vincent and the Grenadines went under to the host and St Lucia on both occasions.

Against Grenada, the Vincentians lost by nine wickets, as they were dismissed for 75. Grenada replied with 77 for 1.

Grenada established the highest innings aggregate in the history of the competition last Saturday.

Grenada romped to 299 for 6. St Vincent and the Grenadines responded with 98. Grenada won by a whopping 201 runs.

In the two matches against, St Vincent and the Grenadines batted first on both occasions, and scored the identical score, 105 all out. The St Lucians first won by eight wickets, responding with 106 for 2, then by five wickets, as they reached 109 for 5.

Grenada emerged champions as they and St Lucia ended on fifteen points apiece.

The host though got the edge on the net run rate method. Grenada had a + 2.394 net run rate, while St Lucia recorded + 1.165 net run rate. (RT)
