It was again modest returns for the young Vincentian swimmers, who only two months ago, began training in an almost full size fifty-metre pool, located at Shrewsbury House.

Despite the challenges, Loren Gun Munro placed second overall in the 8 and over girls’ age group.

Her younger sister, Tia Gun Munro finished second in the 6 and under category.

Nikolas Sylvester came in fourth in the boys’ 11 to 12 age group. He was first in the 200 m breast stroke and placed second in the 200 m individual medley.

The other members of the team which participated in the event were Ria Adams, Isabelle Bollers, Leah Bollers, Alexander Joachim, Kayala Gibson, Zoe Porter, Shea Joachim and Justin Sylvester.

Coaches Neisha Alexander and Rickydene Alexander accompanied the young swimmers to the invitational meet.

Alexander said that the team performed well in the circumstances, as they had to compete against more seasoned swimmers, who are exposed to better training facilities over a longer period of time.

The Blue Marlins had to compete with fourteen other clubs drawn from Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Grenada, Trinidad and Tobago and the host, St Lucia.

It was the thirteenth year the Rodney Heights Aquatic Center was hosting the invitational event.(RT)
