Twin power at Inter Schools’ Track and Field Meet

The emergence of two sets of twin brothers at last Thursday’s National Lotteries Authority Inter-Secondary Schools Track and Field Championships at the Arnos Vale Playing is not a frequent occurrence.{{more}}

From the Bishop’s College came the pair of Reuberth and Roberto Boyd.

And, who says that identical twins cannot be separated, as Maykele and Mickel Culzac represented the Bethel High School and the Dr. JP Eustace Memorial, respectively.

The Boyd duo lit up the tracks in the sprints.

In the 100 m Male Under-17, Roberto was first in 11.55 seconds and Reuberth was second in 11.59 seconds.

The two could not be separated either in the 200 m. Roberto won the 200 m Male Under-17 event, with Reuberth second, clocking 22.93 seconds and 22.98 seconds, respectively.

They two also featured in the Bishop’s College Kingstown triumph in the 4 x 100 m Male Under-17 relay. Reuberth ran the first leg, with Roberto, the anchor leg, which brought home the gold medal for their school.

Both fourth form Business students, the two are, however, separated at the Bishop’s College Inter House level. Roberto represents Woodroffe House, and Reuberth, Jackson House.

Unlike the Boyds, the Culzacs are more adept to the middle distances.

Mickele claimed gold in the 800 m and 1500 m Male Under-17 race. He clocked 2 minutes 11.48 seconds in the 800 m and 4 minutes 35.89 seconds in the 1500 m. Maykele, though, had to trail his brother by some distance, as he placed fifth in the 1500 m.

The Boyd and Culzac twins follow the emergence of the St Vincent Grammar School’s Jumari and Jumarli Matthews, a few years ago.(RT)
