CWPPS, KPS rule at Primary Schools’ Athletics Meet

The C W Prescod Primary School (CWPPS) and the Kingstown Preparatory School (KPS) took the Male and Female Divisions, respectively, when the National Lotteries Authority Inter Primary Schools’ Athletics Championships{{more}} were held on Wednesday at the Arnos Vale Playing Field.

CWPPS were the run away winners with 126 points, distancing the KPS into the second spot with 78 points. Completing the top three among the males was the Layou Government, which tallied 70.5 points.

In the female segment, the KPS recorded 100 points, beating the Layou Government School with 88 points into second spot.

Finishing third in the female category was the Lowmans Leeward Anglican, which compiled 74 points.

In the individual awards, Jodeisha Samuel of the Layou Government topped the Female Under-7, as she put together 20 individual points.

Matthew Robinson of the Bequia Anglican Primary School copped the Male Under-7, with his 18 points.

The female Under-9 champion was Ashera Ollivierre of the Fitz Hughes Government. Ollivierre scored 18 points and Nicarta Martin with 17 points, representing the Park Hill Government, was the Male Under-9 winner.

Azubah Delpesche of the Barrouallie Anglican School was the Female Under-11 individual champion with her 14 points and Deraj Williams of the Pamelus Burke Government School, the Male winner. Williams contributed 23 points.

Anastacia Codougan of the CWPPS was Female Under-14 champion. She had 19 points to her name.

In the Under-14 age group, there was a joint Male champion.

Sharing the spoils were Tarique John of the CWPPS and the Nigel Matthias of the Fair Hall Government. Both had 18 points when the individual scores were compiled.

The championships were not without its flaws and hiccups, but organisers were expected to iron out all the kinks when the main course, the Inter-Secondary Schools’ Track and Field Championships, which were set for yesterday, Thursday, also at the Arnos Vale Playing Field, were held.

The dessert in the three course meal of Track and Field sets off today, Friday, with the Inter Faculty Games, at the same venue.(RT)
