Already, newcomers Young Strikers have indicated that they mean business, ousting the much favoured Glen United in the opening salvo.

Batting first, on a good pitch, which was prepared by Jimmy Pierre, Glen United One did not take advantage of the true bounce, as they were undone for 86 all out. Marcus Hackshaw topscored with 27 not out.

Responding, Young Strikers gathered 91 runs for the loss of six wickets, to win by a four-wicket margin in the end.

Young Strikers and Glen United One joined the other eighteen teams vying for championship honours and the cash prize of $1500.

The other teams in the 20-team race, are Fully Loaded One and Two, Glen United Two, SVG Coast Guard, Nex Level, Venom All Stars, Y de Lima Hot Spurs, Mc Little Saints, Dr Thomas Injectors, Panthers, Digicel Stallions, Sea Operations Nar Fren Dem, Just For the Fun, South Rivers, Karaoke Groovers, Johnnie Walker Flyers and defending champions Street Fighters.

The teams have an added incentive of earning another cash award as the two finalists will get berths in the St George’s champion of champions competition, as proposed by Minister of Tourism, Sports and Culture and area representative for West St George Cecil Mc Kie.(RT)
