The SVG Cycling Union, in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, Sports and Culture, will stage the Chatoyer Endurance Cycling Race, which forms part of Heroes and Heritage Month celebrations.

The race will be contested in two categories: Road Bike and Mountain bike.

The Road Bikes race will start outside the Peace Memorial Hall in Kingstown to Langley Park Georgetown and back to Sion Hill; covering a distance of 50 miles.

The Mountain Bike segment of the race will also start outside the Peace Memorial Hall, but will instead journey to Colonarie and back to Sion Hill, a distance of 40 miles.

Apart from the commemorative purpose, Sunday’s event will also give local cyclists more practice in traversing different terrain, and over a longer distance, as preparations intensify for regional and international engagements.

The Chatoyer Endurance Race is the longest race thus far thus far in the 2012 programme.

Both races will start at 2:00 pm sharp. All cyclists are asked to register at Sailor’s Cycle Centre by Saturday, March 24.

The prizes, which are at stake for the top finishers, are sponsored by the Ministry of Tourism, Sports and Culture.(RT)
