Blue Marlins Club wins SVGASA Vitamalt invitational swim meet
The St Vincent and the Grenadines Amateur Swimming Association (SVGASA) hosted the first VITA MALT Invitational Swim Meet at the newly refurbished swimming pool at Shrewsbury House in Ratho Mill on February 24 and 25, 2012.{{more}}
Thirty-six swimmers took part in the exciting competition, with ages ranging from 78 years to over 18. Blue Marlins Swim Club of St. Vincent and The Grenadines achieved first place, scoring the highest points in the competition, ahead of the two invited clubs from Grenada, âGrenfinâ and the âDolphinsâ, and St Vincentâs newly formed club âBlack Sands Swim Squadâ.
A number of local swimmers also took the top spots in age group categories for most points in the girls 9-10 category (Ria Adams – Blue Marlins); Girls 11-12 (Shne Joachim – Blue Marlins); Boys 11-12 (Nikolas Sylvester – Blue Marlins); Girls 13-14 (Adora Lawrence – Blue Marlins); Boys 13-14 (Brandon Bristol – Blue Marlins) and 18 & over males (Kyle Dougan – Black Sand). Kimberley Ince of Grenfin took the girls 8 and under; Jenebi Benoit of Dolphin, 8 and under Boys; DâAndre Stephen of Grenfin , 9-10 Boys Jamal Regis of Grenfin; Boys 15-17 and Natalie Sihera of Grenfin, 18 and over females.
Members of the Grenada swim club expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to be part of this inaugural event and commended the St Vincent swimming family for organizing a successful meet.
