Cyclists on the road again

Local cyclists took to the roads again last Saturday and Sunday as the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Cycling Union keeps pedaling with its calendar.{{more}}

The first stop was in Barrouallie, as that community’s thriving cycling programme got a boost with the circuit around the Barrouallie Playing Field, the venue for the races.

Taking charge of the Mountain Bike category was Craig Kirby, who was undefeated in his two events.

Kirby was trailed by Casnel Duncan and Tevin Griffith in that order.

There was also activity for the BMX cyclists, which saw Casnel Duncan coming up with three wins; Cammie Adams and Kevron Williams followed Duncan.

There was the Slow Man Race of 20 metres which was won by Jamal Llewellyn.

Then on Sunday, Shimano Bailey claimed the 40 mile race, which took the cyclists from the Arnos Vale Round About to Diamond and back , traversing the distance four times.

Bailey’s time was two hours six. minutes 18.30 seconds.

Second was Shane Cole in two hours eight minutes 54. 43 seconds, and third was Zefal Bailey in a close two hours eight minutes 54:84 secs.

The road will get the feel of the cyclists’ tyres again this Sunday in another 40 mile race.

This time, the cyclists will go from the Arnos Vale Round About to Ratho Mill, doing so ten times.(RT)
