ASCO T/20 Softball Cricket Competition bowls off

The Ashburton Sports and Cultural Organisation (ASCO) T/20 Softball Cricket Competition got going last weekend with five matches at the competition’s venue, the Dauphine Playing Field.{{more}}

On Saturday, in the opening salvo, Digicel Stallions plugged the flow of CWSA Sports Club by a whopping 176 runs.

Stallions smashed 246 for 6 off 20 overs; Felix Baptiste led the carnage with 58, Manley Duncan hit 50, with Kirton Lavia and Lesroy Baptiste scoring 26 each. Bowling for CWSA, Alpheus Gurley had 3 for 42.

CWSA Sports Club, at their turn, was bundled out for 70 in 14 overs. Manley Duncan bagged 4 for 18 and Felix Baptiste had 2 for 10.

On Sunday, Dr Thomas Injectors beat Shot Callers by 10 runs. Injectors scored 133 in 19.3 overs. Extras contributed 49. Augustine Corridon made 28. Sheldon Nanton took 4 for 18 including a hat trick and Everad Glasgow 2 for 15.

In reply, Shot Callers made 123 all out in 20 overs. Sheldon Nanton led the way with 52, there were 39 extras. Marcus Spencer had bowling figures of 3 for 23, Ronnique Daniel 2 for 31 and Augustine Corridon 2 for 16.

In another Male Division match up, Glen United beat Sea Operation Nar Fren Dem by 57 runs. Glen United 134 for 3 off 20 overs, with Henderson Morgan scoring 61 not and Nar Fren Dem conceded 24 extras.

Nar Fren Dem was dismissed for 77 in 16.4 overs. Marcus Hackshaw copped 4 for 27, and there were two wickets apiece for Kerwin Browne, Troy Harry and Wayne Garraway.

In the Female Division, United Survivors beat Super Strikers by seven wickets. Super Strikers scored 50 in 14.1 overs. Julita Da Silva grabbed 3 for 11 and Jeanetta Diamond 2 for 12.

United Survivors replied with 51 for 3 in 8.2 overs. Cordel Jack struck 23. Heather Wyllie took 2 for 18, bowling for Super Strikers.

The other female match played on Saturday which featured Dig Deep Warriors and Glen United is unfinished with four balls to left reaming in Dig Deep’s reply. (RT)
