The Guyanese are on a Caribbean tour as they prepare for the semi final round of the CONCACAF Zone of the 2014 World Cup Qualifiers.

Guyana, known as the “Golden Jaguars”, topped their group in the second round of the qualifiers, and in the process upstaged Trinidad and Tobago, who had qualified for the 2006 World Cup in Germany.

Guyana will now tangle with Mexico, Costa Rica and El Salvador in the next phase.

The Vincentians, however, had been booted out of the qualifiers, winning one match, drawing two, and losing three.

It will be the first outing for the Vincentians since they played Belize here on November 15, 2011, when they lost 2-0.

However, most of the players who will be involved in Sunday’s match are currently participating in the Hairoun Beer National Invitational Community Inter League Championships.

Sunday’s friendly international will be preceded by an Inter League fixture between Stubbs and Greiggs.

The friendly international will be the first time in which Cornelius Huggins will be in charge of the senior team. Huggins, who last played for this country in November 2011, was also the under-study to Technical Director and Head Coach, Englishman Colwyn Rowe.

Immediately following St Vincent and the Grenadines’ exit in November, Rowe tendered his resignation to the St Vincent and the Grenadines Football Federation.

Coach of the Guyana team is Jamal Shabaaz, who is Trinidadian.
